so many people told me they saw this book and/or read the inside cover but didn't pick it up.
I too am guilty of this. But I do believe we severely underestimated this book. It took me a month to finish Call Me By My Name and yet less than a week to finish this book. Straight forward plot but still enjoyable. Definitely something I think more peope should've given a chance to.

The setting is a neighborhood! Emily went to Sloane house to find her and she dispersed.. :( I think the setting is important because she going have to go around and do this list to get her friend back.Main charters are Emily and Sloane! Emily is described directly as a great friend! Indirect she sad and misses her best friend! Sloane was described directed as a friend who left. indirect i have not been told enough about her.

The setting is at Emily's house and at Sloane's house. Emily went to Sloane's house to find that her whole family just up and left without saying anything, but left a list that has all these outrageous things that Sloane would do and Emily would never do and Sloane wanted Emily to do all of the things on the list. Having to adapt to their environment would be sad and scary because if I were Emily I would be sad that my best friend was gone forever and i would be scared to go out of my comfort zone and do the things on the list. Also, if I were Sloane I would be sad I had to leave all my friends behind.

The setting of the book is now, in a random small town. Since there is a bucket list, because Sloane is gone, every chapter of the book takes place in a different setting. They've been at Frank's house, the movie theater, and frequently Emily's house. This affects Emily, because it is out of her comfort zone, and in these places she has to adapt in order to "fit in". If i were in Emily's situation, I think it would be a little harder to adapt, just because it can be hard to step out of your comfort zone. I think I would freak out a little more than Emily did if my best friend disappeared, and I would probably call the cops.

They live in the present day and they live in a not too big, not too small town. The setting for Emily is all the places that Sloane has her go when she disappears. Emily has to do all these things by herself and it's hard because she is used to having Sloane there for everything so this isn't her usual setting. For example, she has to go to a party at the orchard, it's no longer a running orchard so usually there's just parties. Emily has to go there by herself and there's a whole bunch of people she doesn't know and she is uncomfortable. She ends up sitting by herself and leaving.

Emily internal conflict was she was so sad that her friend is gone.. :( emily wants her best friend Sloane to come back because she dissapred. I think she will do everything on the list to bring her back and it will solve her sadness!!Her external conflict is also sadness alot of people see she really upset her bff is gone but she will do anything to bring her back and thats where the list comes! I think the resolved will be her getting here back and everyone see how happy she is! The mood the author mood is to make us sad that she is gone from her and she need to do the list to get her bavk

The setting is at Emily's house and Sloane's house and neighborhood. Emily went to Sloane's house and she is gone, Emily don't know where she can be, she is worry about her best friend just disappear after some days Emily's mom gave to her a letter from Sloane, this was a list to do with things that Emily never did before.
I think Emily is worry because her best friend is not in her house or in the city and she didn't told anything about it, also Emily's parents are going to be out of the town because they are going to write a play and they are too busy to see something is happen with Emily's friend. Now Emily have to take care of her little brother and also do the list that Sloane gave to her, and try to find her.

The setting first starts in Sloane and Emily's neighborhood. One internal conflict that Emily has is Sloane has disappeared without leaving a note or anything, besides a letter that she sent Emily through mail. In this letter there are specific instructions on things Emily has to do in order to see Sloane again. Most of the things on this list are way out of Emily's comfort zone. The mood in the beginning i would say is a bit of conflict and sadness.
I think Emily will have a hard time doing these tasks, because she is not used to doing these sort of things without Sloane. Not only does she have to figure out a way to do these tasks so she can see Sloane again, but she has to worry about her little brother because her parents went into a whole "focus on writing a play" mode and she has to look out for her brother and make sure he's eating etc.
If I were Emily I would feel super insecure doing these tasks and a bit overwhelmed by the fact that I would have to act like a parent for my younger sibling.I would have to learn to be independent without Sloane, because without here I would be the type of person who has no social life, because it's something I'm not used to.

The setting of this book is in a very small town that sloane and emily live in. I believe that the book is actually set in the twenty first century so its not as different from now as other books. I personally would not find it hard to adjust to the books setting. both Sloane and Emily are already just normal high school girls so there is not really anything that would make it challenging to be a part of their setting. i don't think having to adapt to the characters environment would be that difficult because Emily is just a normal girl that is shy and doesn't really like going going out without her friend Sloane.I believe that I am already a lot like my character because i don't go out much but when i don't i'm always with one of my only friends. I am very shy if i don't know people and neither us really know how to hold a conversation well. If I got put into the world of "since you've been gone" I probably wouldn't have a hard time adapting to the story and since its set in the twenty first century and nothing historical is happening there would be nothing weird or new that I would need to know about the world that would be around me. Emily is faced with an adventure from her friend Sloane and has to go do things she would only be okay doing with Sloane but since Sloane has suddenly gone missing she has to do them herself in hopes of finding her friend. This is something if i had to do it i probably wouldn't be able to, some people are not meant for adventures like that and i am definitely one of those people. Emily has already started to go out and be brave without Sloane and did one thing on the list and went to a party by herself, a lot of people i know that actually go to places like parties don't even want to go to parties alone so I don't think something like that would be easy for me to adapt to quickly.

I agree with this comment because this book is based of a shy high school girl who has some insecurity problems but is willing to overcome them in order to see her friend again and I'm pretty sure most of us have someone who we'd overcome anything if they were in trouble or needed help or just wanted to hang out with. This book is very easy to adapt too because of the setting it's in.

The setting takes place at Emily's house. Emily is the main character of the book. She has a friend named Sloane. Sloane has disappeared and left Emily with a list to complete. Emily wen't to Sloane's house but to find it empty. Trying to find out why Sloane would leave a list. The list contains things that Sloane and Emily would do together or things for Emily to witness herself. The list will help Emily find Sloane or lead her to Sloane. Emily doesn't quite understand how all the things on the list help find Sloane but she is willing to do anything to find her. She has completed small task but hasn't completed them all.
If I were in Emily's situation. I wouldn't give up finding her. I would just feel like it would be harder to adapt to the fact that my best friend is gone. We do everything together, tell each other everything, and see each other all of the time. To not seeing each other at all and now having to find her before summer ends.
In the end I think everything will end well. I think Emily will find Sloane and they will be together again. Because the author keeps showing a sad vibe through out the book. Lets hope the book ends good. And not end with a sad or unreasonable ending.

I agree with you. I hope the end of the book turns out like this. This summer has been a lot of Emily, and though she has been having fun, I really hope she finds a way to get Sloane back. I think it was be almost anticlimactic if she ended the book without finding her. Emily deserves to find her, espicaly after all the trouble, and not knowing where her friend was.

The setting is a neighborhood where Emily and Sloane live. Sloane went missing and after she went missing she sent a list of tasks that Emily has to do in order to find her. Emily is a bit overwhelmed and upset and she misses Sloane. Emily has gone to every place she can think of that Sloane might be in and couldn't find her. She has a little brother she has to take care of and her parents are playwriters and they aren't around most of the time. If I was in Emily's place I would not hesitate to complete every task on that list as fast as possible no matter how bold it is if it means I could get my best friend back.

The setting takes place mostly in Emily's house. Emily is the main character in the book. Emily and Sloane are bestfriends, but one day Sloane and her family disappear with out telling anyone. Emily was worried sick about her because she didn't answer her calls or texts. But then Emily receives a letter from Sloane, it was a list of things to do before the summer ended. Emily has a brother who she has to take care of because her parents are play writers who are not around most of the time. If I was in Emily's situation I would complete the list and would wait for my bestfriend to come back so I could tell her how i completed the task before the summer was over.

The Setting take place in present in Emily And Sloane's neighborhood. Sloane went missing and Emily is basically trying to find out where she is . So Emily is sent a list of things she has to do to find out where Sloane is. If I was in Emily's place I would be freaking out about where my friend is because when the story was talking about how close Emily and Sloane was I have friends like that myself and i would be worried as heck. But I would have went to the police and tried to find her and forget about the list because i know some of the things on the list i would not have done at all.

The setting takes place in this town named stanwich. its just an ordinary small country town. At the beginning the setting mostly takes place at Emily's house. But when Emily receives Sloane's list, she goes places. Her parents are usually kind of strict about her whereabouts but they are occupied with work. The book is very urban and takes place like now a days. Emily went from moving a lot from settling down in kind of a small town. On Emily, I feel like its a lot better starting settled down in a small town. Emily is very shy so her actions are very i would say cautious and mature. But her best friend Sloane usually like helps her come out of her shyness zone. With Sloane vanishing and all, it is very hard on Emily. Sloane was all she had. Emily was not anything without being with Sloane. So doing this list is very difficult for Emily at first. If I had to go through all that stuff, my reaction would be very overwhelming. I would not know who to really go to considering I would have one friend that is gone and my parents are occupied by work. i would need a lot of help.

The setting of this book effects the plot by having the main character do all these challenges in so many different places. these places- such as the orchard- effect the plot bye continuing the story and having the character do the different things on her list. during all this the main character gets a little out of her shell. She does this by going to these strange places and doing these list items. If i was in this setting- situation I would follow through with the list even tho personally I am shy like the main character. The part that would be most difficult for me is breaking out of my shell and doing all these things. The things included hanging out with people that is. i would also be afraid to do the things without my friend just as our main character does.

I agree because if this was in a city all of these things would be super easy to do because there are a lot more people in the city willing to do things like the things on Sloane's list than in Stanwich. If it was in the country then she wouldn't be able to find as many people to do these things because people would think it's weird.

The setting took place in a small town of StanWich Connecticut. In the beginning it all started out at Emily's house.(The main character) Emily has a bestfriend named Sloane, and one summer out of the blue Sloane went missing. Emily got a letter from Sloane, with thirteen things she needed to do, and maybe she could find Sloane. I feel like the setting makes so much more interesting, considering that Sloane and Emily hung out everyday after school, and also called/ texted each other when there bored. The fact that Sloane went missing make me want to know what Emily would do to find her. This book was pretty recent, considering the context of the book. If I were in Emily's shoes I would do the same and try to do anything to find my best friend. It would be hard to adapt to the environment that Emily is in, but i would do anything for a friend.

A person whose actions I don't approve of, is Solane's behavior. I like how she was brave and not afraid to do things, but I don't like how she treats Emily, especially when she gets a boyfriend. She frequently tries to push Emily out of her comfort zone.Sometimes I feel like Solane is bratty, and pushes emily out. I think this us just natural for her, considering she moves around frequently, she's used to being herself. I would suggest to Emily that she stands up for herself more, and that she shouldn't let solane shove her around.

I agree with this because when Sloane gets a boyfriend she ditches Emily a lot and i don't think a good friend should do that.Emily wouldn't do that to Sloane because she cares about Sloane too much to ever hurt her feelings. A characters actions that I don't agree with is when Emily is at the orchard and she goes by herself. I think she should've went with someone like Frank and Collins. When she gets there she doesn't talk to anyone but i would've tried to make friends. I would've tried to talk to people i mean she needs to make more friends because her best friend is gone. I don't think she should've gone to sit by herself because Sloane said to go to the orchard and she should've either left or made friends. Also when she wishes Frank wouldn't notice that her car ran out of gas, I would've appreciated the help.

Emily is worry about where Sloane could be, but now she has to take care of her little brother while her parents go to a place to focus on their new play, also Emily has to find her best friend who just disappear and gave her a letter a couple days after she gone. the letter is a list of things to do, I guess Emily is not sure about complete that list or it goes to be hard for her because she never did some like that before and less without Sloane, but if Emily want to find her, she has to take a chance and do it. I guess for Emily Sloane is so important that she is going to complete all the list for be with her friend again. I think Emily's parents has to put some attention in their kids, because they just left and leave them alone and i don't think that could be good, also Emily wanted talk to them about what was going on with Sloane but they doesn't matter and just left away. I am waiting they knew it that they did something wrong putting more attention to their play than their children.

I feel like Emily's actions toward finding Sloane are actually like pretty admirable considering that they are because she just wants to find her friend. Emily has already started to finish the list that Sloane left her just to find her which for just a high school student is kind of a big deal. I personally dont disagree with anything that she is doing. Emily is acting like rushed and nervous and i think is right to say a little scared because she just wants to follow her list and hope that they lead to Sloane. I personally wouldn't suggest her doing anything different because if Sloane was her only friend then she doesn't really have someone to come along with her.

A characters actions that i do not agree with is Sloane. I feel like she can be very rude and bratty to emily at times. I also feel like she kind of forgets about Emily when she gets a boyfriend and a best friend should not do that. She can also tend to make Emily a little uncomfortable considering she pushes her to do things way out of her comfort zone. If Emily does not want to do something, she should not be pressured into doing something she does not want to by Sloane. She should stick up for herself and speak her voice when she wants to.

I totally agree with you. When Emily was talking about the time she went to the orchard with Sloane, it was also with Sam and Gideon. Everyone knows that Sloane most likely just had Gideon come to hook him and Emily up so she can be with Sam only. When Emily stared talking about the cherry sign, Sam said stuff and pretty much thought she was dumb. Sloane didn't even back her up. But luckily Gideon kind of did. Also about the part about Sloane pressuring Emily. That is very true. This whole thing pretty much revolves around that statement. Sloane is pressuring Emily to do the things on the list for her to come back. Sloane knows that Emily is super uncomfortable with the things on the list.

A characters actions and behavior that i disagree with is Sloane's. One day she and her family decide to just vanish and disappear without any clues. She then mails a list of things to do to her best friend Emily. Emily doesn't know what to do. Sloane knows how Emily is and still does it. I don't think its very nice for a friend to do that to there friend because Emily is very upset about all of it and i would be too. Its the beginning of summer break and Emily was looking forward to having a great summer with Sloane but now that shes gone, Emily now has to do the things on this list to possibly get her to come back. I know Emily is shy and only gets out of her comfort zone with Sloane with her and that Sloane is probably trying to get Emily to face her fears but there is so many other ways to help that. I would prefer that Sloane not vanish, but stay and make a list and just have her do it that way. Vanishing is too far just to get a friend to do a list you made.

I also agree with you by saying after she left, all she had for Sloane was a list of things to do, to hopefully find her. That was not the nicest thing to do, because all Emily was trying to do was find her best friend. Now she has to go around town looking for the things, that will lead to finding her.

One character's actions I disagree with is Sloane's. Out of the blue she decides to just disappear without any reason why. She didn't tell anyone, not even her best friend Emily. She just left Emily to do everything on her own without any explanation. If I were Sloane, I would at least tell my friends when/if I was leaving. It's wrong to leave a friend hanging, especially when you talk to them everyday after/during school. Also, Sloane knows that Emily isn't one to talk a lot. So, to just disappear like that was a bad decision.

In our book i like our main character Emily, and i feel like shes doing things alright. Just i also feel like she procrastinates while doing the list. I understand that she is shy, but she has a tendency of doing the things on the list quite slowly. She seems to put some things off that would actually be quite easy to do. Also when Sloane was here before she "disappeared" Emily would kinda let her push her around. She would let Sloane start the conversations even though she had things to say. Now that Sloane is gone Emily seems to still act like Sloane will start Sloane will help, but Sloane isn't there. Emily you got to speak up.

Right now I am at the part where Emily is going to try to cross off number 3 on the list, which is steal something, she had a flashback to when she was with Sloane at the drive in and Sloane said she wanted a sign with her name on it that was there, she went back multiple times to try to buy it but the answer was always no. In the flashback Sloane had a boyfriend named Sam and Sloane constantly left Emily to hang out with him, and Emily put up with it. After the flashback Emily went to the drive in to attempt to steal the sign, she almost got caught but luckily Frank was there to back her up. She went over to Frank's house but did not end up crossing off number 3 on the list

Beckett (Emily's brother) was sad and angry because their parents left them alone in house, Emily;s dad was promised to Beckett that they both would go to camp during summer, but their parents decided that the play was more important so they left their children alone in home with a lot of frozen food.
Emily it goes to start with the list that Sloane gave her, but Beckett want to go to other place so she took him to a place where he could be pass a few hours playing and she could be go to try to find the first thing in the list, but something happened when they were at the place, when Emily was almost leaving she saw a boy from her school and he started to talk with her, then, another boy arrived to talk with them, then Emily heard her name when she turn to saw Beckett was in the top of the climbing wall. I think Sloane have to be worry about her brother because she thought that she could leave him in that place playing but now she know that is dangerous leave her brother alone so maybe she have to take him with her to end Sloane's list.

I think that this is a good inference because maybe Beckett could help Emily complete the list from Sloane. Beckett is very adventurous and fearful so he might be able to help Emily get over her fears and complete the list. I know Emily does not want anyone to see the list but it could help her out.

The internal conflict in this story is Emily battling with herself. She is battling against herself because she doesn't now how she can get Sloane back by not completing the list. So, to find her or solve the puzzle of the list. She is also battling with what tasks she would complete first on the list or how she should complete them. This conflict hasn't been solved yet, because she is still trying to complete the tasks on the list.
    My response:
I think this is a important plot because every chapter is making Emily face her fears or things she hasn't accomplished yet. My reaction to the fears she has to face or the things she has to accomplish I think that it will show her who she is and who she is mean't to be. I think everyone who is stuck up under there friends. Need to learn how to be themselves or find themselves.

I agree with your comment. I think it is good that she is battling these things because it will teach her things about herself and it will help her in the long run with things in life. It will teach her to not always follow other people and to be who she wants to be and to stick up for herself.

The most important conflict in the book is Emily having to do the things in the list that make her uncomfortable and she is having to really go out of her comfort zone to complete the tasks. Like when Emily has to hug someone named Jamie. She felt uncomfortable doing that. She is battling with herself and finding out if she has the courage to complete these things. I think that her battling with these is important to the plot because the story would not be the same if everything on the list was easy for her to complete. I like that she has ti have the courage to do these things because sometimes its good to go out of your comfort zone because it will teach you new things.

I agree with this comment, it is a good thing that Emily is learning to get out of her comfort zone.I also find what Sloane did with the choosing the tasks very good because she knew her friend very well that she knew that some of these will be hard for her, but Emily will complete them knowing that Emily would do anything in order to see her again.

The conflict in this story is Emily battling with herself. She is trying to figure out how she can get Sloane back to her. but also Emily is starting to hang out with other people and she is feeling more like herself with them than she is when she is with Sloane. So Emily is trying to figure out how to solve the puzzle to get Sloane back but now she has people who are trying to help her solve it. At first Emily wanted to do it by herself but then she met other people and they found out about the list so now they are helping her.
i think that Emily should enjoy finishing the list and no the determined to find Sloane. Emily should also face her fears i think it will who her who she really is and what she actually likes and does not like.

The conflict that's happening in the book is that Emily is basically battling herself . So she could find her friend Sloane. I think this part is the most important because its the main problem in the story. She's also having a problem not completing the list because she's more focused on finding a way to get Sloane by not completing the list. The conflict is still not solved yet the highest part she got on the list was to see Mona.

I agree that Emily is basically battling herself. Its a important conflict considering that shes super shy and Sloane knows that but yet still makes that list of stuff. When someone vanishes, pretty much anyone would focus more on trying to find them rather then doing some list.

The biggest conflict that is happening is Sloane and her family vanishing. Emily is freaking out and also confused with everything. With Sloane vanishing and leaving that list for Emily, it has caused little conflicts like Emily having to get out of her comfort zone and lie to her parents. This conflict is very important to the plot considering that this is what the whole story is about. Its basically a novel of Emily's life and actions while Sloane is gone. Without this conflict, the whole plot would be different. I was very shocked by Sloane vanishing because usually when someone vanishes more then just a teenage best friend realizes it.

One conflict that is going on right now is that Sloane has disappeared along with her family and didn't say anything to Emily, besides a letter in the mail in which is listed tasks Emily has to complete. This isn't the first time Emily has to do something like this, in the past when Sloane or Emily would go out of town, Sloane would write a list stating a few things Emily had to complete. The only difference is that usually when Sloane would do this, whenever one of them would come back they would tell each other the experiences they had while they were gone, but unfortunately Sloane did't say anything to Emily that she was leaving town.Another conflict is that these tasks that Sloane has given her aren't going to be easy for Emily to complete because some of the task are way out of her comfort zone. This conflict means a lot in the story because that's all it consist about. There are no other BIG conflicts besides the main one, which is this one.I feel like these tasks will actually help Emily be more social and be able to be more open and in my opinion I feel like Sloane's whole purpose of the tasks is for Emily to learn to be open even without her there.

I totally agree with the fact that Sloane and her family vanishing is the main conflict. With that there are other little conflicts that are spread throughout the whole story. i also agree with the fact that this wasn't the only time Sloane just gave Emily a list of things to do, but this time is different. You made a good point about Sloane and she's doing this for Emily, and having her open up more, because she knows she doesn't like to do things out of here comfort zone.

I think that the main conflict of this story is Sloane going missing because it worries emily and so now she is determined to complete the list and to find her friend she think bye completing the list she will find her and many of the things on there lead to even bigger conflicts like her trying to steal the painting and go skinny dipping so i think the conflict all starts with list because before she wasnt getting herself into any trouble but think it opens her up more and will help her stop being so shy

I agree with the fact the Sloane vanishing is the biggest conflict. I also agree with the fact that its making Emily feel like she is pressured to complete the list. On the other hand I also feel like Sloane is only doing this to test Emily, and seeing if shes a true friend or not, and to get out of her comfort zone by doing things she would never do.

I think the main conflict of the story is when Sloane went missing and she left Emily, her best friend a list of thirteen things to do, that could lead to finding Sloane. This very important to the plot because, the whole story is revolving around this one main conflict. Also, the main conflict could lead to other little conflicts along the way. Emily trying to complete the list is a conflict in of itself, because Emily is having a hard time completing the tasks she was supposed to do. So, every task by itself is a mini conflict of itself. in my opinion this is a test for Emily from Sloane, to see to what extent Emily will go to find her, this could also mean how much she cares about her. I feel like Sloane is taking it way too far and making her best friend do all these things she knows she is uncomfortable with.

I agree with you that the list is a conflict in the story because As Emily is trying to do the things on the list, there are a lot of smaller conflicts. The list is also a conflict because this is the only thing she has left of Sloane and she's using it as her last bit of hope to find her.

I think that the main conflict on the story since you been gone is that fact the Sloane left, vanished. this causes our main character Emily to over come n=many different conflicts such as the orchard. Also when Emily deals with these small conflicts it causes her to miss Sloane. The fact that Sloane is missing makes if difficult for Emily to accomplish these other conflicts- list items. If Sloane never went missing Emily would have never had to do these things. Battle these other conflicts deal with these list items. Then again if Sloane never left Emily would never actually do things on her own, become her own person.

Sloane and her family have up and left without telling Emily. This is important to the plot because Sloane left a list of things for Emily to do that would help her have a good summer and if Emily did all the things on that list it might lead her to Sloane. My reaction to the conflict is that Sloane leaving might have been a good thing because it seems like Sloane was Emily's only friend, so I think that having that list might get her out of her comfort zone and be a little more social.

An important theme in this book is that you should break out of your comfort zone sometimes. Emily breaks out of her comfort zones many times throughout the book. One time she broke out of her comfort zone is when she went with Dawn to deliver pizzas. She wouldn't have done that if Sloane was there because then Sloane wouldn't have left her the list. During the ride, Emily went up to one of the houses and she almost hugged a Jamie but she was too afraid to do it. Another time Emily broke out of her comfort zone was when she kissed Frank. She knew that what she was doing was wrong because he had a girlfriend.

I agree with your comment. It was good for Emily to break out of her comfort zone. Emily never would have done all the things on the list if she was with Sloane because Sloane would have done them for her because Sloane is more outgoing and she is the one who does all the adventurous things. It was good for Emily to experience it because I think it helped her in the long run.

I believe a strong theme from this book was: you should try to break out of your comfort zone. This is meaningful to me, because although a person could be perfectly content just staying within their comfort zone, I believe people should try to go and do thins that are hard, or scary. To a safe level obviously, but I think most people would enjoy doing something they wouldn't normally do. This is important to the book, because the entire book is about Emily breaking out of her comfort zone, and about the tasks that Sloane left her to do. Like how Emily had to try to ride a horse, which she was scared of. After riding the horse, she was a little shaken up, but she had enjoyed it. Or when Emily had to wear the backless dress, that she wasn't the most confident in, and go to a fancy dinner/dance thing. She was nervous, but she had fun with frank and she was glad she did it.

well i feel sad for Emily because she is trying to do the list that Sloane made for her but she is having some problems, I don't think that a good friend could make you do some things that you don't like and also it's make you feel bad. Emily went to the place that Sloane told her in the list, but it was a party there and Emily just was walking alone wondering why she is there and where could Sloane be, when she decided live her car is not working so a boy help her(Frank Porter) Emily always was thinking about how the things could go if Sloane were with her.

I've read the entire book. So if I spoil it for you I am sorry. The theme of the story is friendship is the most important thing in life. Throughout the book Emily has been left in Stanwich by her best friend Sloane. Sloane left Emily a list to complete in the end she does. Emily finally finds Sloane in South Carolina. Sloane has been lying to Emily for years on why she moved so much and why she left Emily like she did. Emily doesn't understand why her best friend for years never told her about her family's financial problem. But at the end Emily made a lot of new friends over the summer and got a boyfriend too.

I agree that friendship is a big thing in this novel. Emily pretty much gets lied to by her best friend and a best friend should not lie about anyone especially over that because Emily wouldn’t think differently about her at all. But, throughout Emily doing everything to get Sloane back, she made some great new friends and a plus is Frank.

I think that the most important theme in the book is to try new things. Throughout the book, Emily has to overcome a lot of obstacles to complete the list. Some of the tasks on the list are hard to complete and they take a lot of courage and strength to do. Emily has to be open to try new things and have the confidence to do them. In the beginning of the book them mention that Emily is shy and she has Sloane do a lot of things for her because Sloane is very outgoing and adventurous. But when Sloane is gone, Emily has to teach herself to try new things and to be outgoing. And from some of the things that Emily does, she gains self confidence in herself and teaches herself new things.

The theme of my book i think is even if things get hard or is hard to complete, you can overcome anything. Emily has alot of challenges throughout the novel. She is super shy and only really has one friend who is Sloane. Well, Sloane is gone and Emily doesn't know how to get through summer without her. Also, the whole list thing is a huge problem for her because it is hard for her to come out of her comfort zone. But she meets new people and she overcomes that part. I think the theme of this book is breaking out of your zone. Your personal barrier everyone makes for themselves. I believe this can me a theme or idea because our main character Emily has to overcome things in her life she never really had to deal with before. By doing these challenges she is slowly breaking out of her zone. tearing down the walls she built slowly. Emily is meeting new people, going to strange places, and doing the most random things. Since Emily never really does this on her own she is always with Sloane it never gave her a chance to be confident in herself. Now that Sloane is gone Emily has a chance to be confident in herself thanks to the list and not using Sloane a a barrier.

I think the theme of the book is all about friendship and overcoming fear. All throughout the whole book Emily is trying to complete a list to hopefully find he best friend Sloane, who went missing in the beginning of the book. Everything on the list were things that Emily would never do, or wouldn't feel comfortable to do. In this case i felt like Sloane was trying to get Emily to go out of her comfort zone and be more sociable. Also I feel like this is in a way a test on their friendship to see to what extent Emily would go to find her best friend. Throughout the book I have noticed as she crosses off more of the things on the list, she is feeling more confident and less shy or worried. Along the way Emily made new friends and is more comfortable talking to people.
